Project Description
During our visit to this government school, we were informed about the problem of waterlogging on the roofs of the school building, caused due to improper roof surface levels. Over the period, this has resulted into water seepage in the roof slab and loosening of plaster of the ceilings. In all the classrooms some portions of the plaster of ceiling have actually fallen. This is a serious risk for the students and teachers attending the classes.
Therefore, the Trust has taken up the full repair of all the damaged ceilings and walls of the classrooms and laboratories.
This involves dismantling the existing Dhar and cleaning the mother slab completely; and applying a waterproofing treatment on the roof slabs by using an acrylic-based polymer-modified cementitious slurry mixed with appropriate sealing and waterproofing chemicals/agents.
Thereafter to protect the waterproofed roof, fresh Dhar shall be laid on the roof. Provide and lay in position plain cement concrete, including curing, compaction, etc., complete in the specified grade with the proper slope. Repair of the ceilings with micro concrete as required, ensuring that any exposed steel is properly addressed. Plastering the ceilings and walls surfaces as needed and to complete with surface painting.
The courtyard of the school where children assemble for morning prayer and assembly has no ground dressing and the children stand in sand and dirt in the courtyard. During rainy seasons the sand turns in mud sludge. This causes lot of hardship for the students as well as staff of the school. Therefore, interlocking cement blocks would be laid on the ground of the courtyard to maintain drainage as well as cleanliness.
With our limited resources we have tried to contribute our bit in improvement of the school education in Shri Khoraji Government Senior Secondary School, Khorabisal, and we sincerely believe that this will have positive impact and prove beneficial in the long run for all the present as well as future students of this school.
We have purposely chosen the government school over private schools, because our beneficiary target group is the underprivileged and deprived section of the Indian society, who are only found in government schools due to their unaffordability of private schools.
